Hot Industry Trends and Critical Topics Discussed at 8th Annual Latin American Pulp and Paper Outlook Conference

Friday 23. August 2013 - Industry leaders to meet again November 18-20 at new conference focusing on emerging Latin American paper packaging market

Industry executives from throughout Latin America gathered August 5-7 at the 8th Annual RISI Latin American Pulp and Paper Outlook Conference to network, learn about key industry trends and hear valuable forecasting information from RISI economists.
“Latin America is one of the hottest pulp and paper marketplaces in the world, and it’s more important than ever for leaders to be well informed about the trends and key issues facing the industry,” said Renata Mercante, conference chairperson and the editor of PPI Latin America Magazine. “Through presentations from key industry players and RISI economists, attendees gained in-depth knowledge that will make a big impact on their businesses.”
At the conference, high-level executives from throughout Latin America gained important insights and perspectives on a wide range of topics, from sustainability to transportation costs and trends to forestry strategies. In addition, RISI economists presented two-year outlooks on critical areas of the industry.
Company executives, merchants, pulp producers, suppliers, financial analysts, consumer products companies and other end-users attended the conference, held at the Intercontinental Hotel in São Paulo, Brazil.
At the event, Mike Coffey, CEO of RISI, presented the 2013 Latin American CEO of the Year Award to Fabio Schvartsman, CEO of Klabin. Schvartsman also gave the conference’s keynote address. Other highlights included:

RISI will be hosting a second event, the RISI Latin American Paper Packaging Conference, at the Eden Roc Miami Beach Hotel in Miami, Florida, on November 18-20. The conference will focus on the emerging Latin American packaging market and will give attendees insight into breaking into this important trading zone. Attendees will hear unique and detailed presentations and discussions on the fiber-based packaging market from brand leaders, including CEOs from leading packaging companies and executives representing converters and suppliers from the containerboard and paperboard markets.
RISI economists will also be on hand to provide key insights into the current containerboard and boxboard packaging markets and valuable forecasting.
