JAMES HANNAN, CEO OF GEORGIA-PACIFIC, NAMED RISI NORTH AMERICAN CEO OF THE YEAR

Monday 29. July 2013 - James Hannan, Chief Executive Officer of Georgia-Pacific, has been named the 2013 North American CEO of the Year by RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry. The award will be presented at the 28th Annual RISI North American Forest Products Conference on October 7-9, 2013, in San Diego, California.

Mr. Hannan was chosen for his leadership, vision and strategic accomplishments in a survey of investment analysts and portfolio managers who cover the forest products industry. Previous North American CEO of the Year winners are Richard Garneau, Resolute Forest Products, in 2012; James Rubright, Rock Tenn, in 2011; and John D. Williams, Domtar, in 2010.
“He’s an excellent choice,” said Greg Rudder, the conference chairman and editor of RISI’s PPI Pulp & Paper Week. “G-P under Hannan has strived to innovate, with the help of a string of acquisitions since 2010 that expand the firm’s pulp presence into specialties and fluff, and its position in building products as well as with its signature consumer products tissue business,” said Rudder.
Mr. Hannan will be accepting his award during the North American Forest Products Conference on Tuesday, October 8. He will also be joining the CEO panel discussion. This roundtable discussion will be led by the region’s leading executives who will talk about critical issues facing the North American forest products industry.
The conference program will feature leading industry experts and RISI’s economists providing their outlooks for the North American sector set in a global context.
RISI organizes four regional CEO awards each year for Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America, with the winner presented at each of the regional RISI conferences. In addition, the Global CEO of the Year Award is presented at the PPI Awards event, held on December 10, 2013.
