On the Arabian Peninsula, products made from cows’ milk are as popular as ever. To satisfy the con-stantly growing demand for fresh quality products, companies be-longing to OYSTAR. The Process & Packaging Group, Stutensee, Germany, have delivered a range of high performance filling and packaging equipment to Almarai, the Saudi Arabian dairy company.
OYSTAR. The Process & Packaging Group has earned worldwide recog-nition for its knowledge of packaging processes, accumulated over several decades. This is a further reason for Almarai, the largest dairy processing company in the Middle East, to commission OYSTAR Group companies to deliver packaging equipment to meet a number of requirements, including processing yoghurt and desserts (OYSTAR Gasti) cream cheese (OYSTAR Erca-Formseal) and butter (OYSTAR Benhil). The equipment is put to use in Almarai’s central dairy in Al-Kharj, about 75 miles outside the capital, Riyad.
This year, OYSTAR Hassia will also deliver a type THL 24/28 form-filling and sealing machine including an SPH 25/50 case packer for manufactur-ing portions of butter. OYSTAR Gasti will again deliver three high per-formance Contitherm 123 machines, each capable of filling pre-formed cups with yoghurt at a rate of 28,000 every hour.
Almarai already processes some two million liters of milk every day and is one of the world’s largest dairy companies with an integrated supply chain: All of its products are made using milk from its own cows. And while Almarai is not the OYSTAR Group’s only customer in this region – all ma-jor dairy companies on the Arabian Peninsula are equipped with OYSTAR Gasti cup filling machines, for example – it is certainly the biggest. Wolf-Dieter Baumann, CEO of the OYSTAR Group: “In recent years, the Middle East has come to be a particularly strong market and is a major contribu-tor to our sales.”
