Sunday 08. June 2008 - Successful start with new vigor

“Our solutions for Value Added Printing in sheetfed printing, Applied Innovations in web offset printing, and our PRINTVALUE portfolio for the entire service sector obviously appealed to customers from around the world – also due to our innovative product program,” is how Gerd Finkbeiner, manroland’s CEO, summarized the successes of the first days at drupa trade fair.

Finkbeiner said that expectations in all three areas, sheetfed presses, web offset presses, and PRINTVALUE, were already clearly exceeded during the first few days of the trade fair: “Excellent performance.” He was especially proud of the response to the new look: “The new name and the new booth were exceptionally well received.” manroland was able to reap the benefits of its intensive, systematic marketing program, gaining a substantial number of projects to tackle within the next few months.

Inline solutions create added value in the sheetfed sector

Orders from a dozen countries are distributed among presses from all series, whether pico, small, medium, or large format, ranging from the brand-new ROLAND 50 to the XXL-sized ROLAND 900. The first press of the new series ROLAND 50 in 36/52 format will soon be printing in Eastern Germany. The great interest from Eastern Europe and Asia, particularly Russia and China, manifested itself in numerous orders.

Web offset printing – powerful products and comprehensive project expertise

Numerous orders from half a dozen countries particularly highlight the growth opportunities in high-volume printing, as shown by the partnership with Mohn media for the development of the 96-page LITHOMAN. In the newspaper sector, manroland kicked off its trade fair successes with the sale of a UNISET hybrid system to El Universo in Ecuador, among others. The compelling factors in this sector are the concepts tailored to customers’ individual requirements.

PRINTVALUE: added value as a key competitive advantage

The range of services provided by manroland is playing an increasingly important part for buyers and sellers as a key program for the entire printing press service life. Thairath Daily, for example, Thailand’s highest circulation daily newspaper, signed a service agreement. For manroland, this constitutes the largest service order worldwide. The contract comprises various services, including a complete upgrade of six GEOMAN newspaper press systems.
