Saturday 07. June 2008 - manroland Tornado yachtsmen visit the drupa stand

manroland brings a fresh breeze to drupa 2008: the Hamburg yachtsmen Johannes Polgar and Florian Spalteholz who qualified in Hyères, France, for the Olympic Games in Qingdao on the Yellow Sea, visited manroland’s drupa stand in Hall 6. And Heinke Böhnert, a Hamburg artist, was there as well, painting her pictures. At the end of the visit some 300 pictures were printed, signed by the yachtsmen and the artist, and distributed among the audience.

Punctually at 11 a.m. Thomas Hauser, Vice President Corporate Marketing & Communications at manroland, and Fritz Torneden, Managing Director of manroland Vertrieb Nord, welcomed the guests at the LITHOMAN press. Then Gunter Persiehl, Commodore of the North German Regatta Association (NRV), spoke about his Olympic Team. “How does one qualify for the Olympics?” he asked. The answer came from future Olympic competitor Johannes Polgar: “One must be reliable, groundbreaking, determined and inspirational. Without these qualities the two of us would never have made it to the Olympic Games in China.” During the visit a thrilling film ran on five big screens showing the two professional yachtsmen in action in the Bay of Kiel. Polgar and Spalteholz sail in the Olympic Tornado class for the NRV Olympic Team that is sponsored by manroland and which qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in China. As Fritz Torneden said: “I am very proud of what the two have achieved. It just goes to show that we are on the right track – the will to perform at the highest level, extreme motivation and teamwork pay off. And this is precisely what we want to promote.” Thomas Hauser emphasised that: “The Tornado yachtsmen represent our new brand values and convey them in an ideal manner. manroland ? reliable, groundbreaking, determined and inspirational. That’s one of the reasons why we support this sport.”

Wind, water, waves and sails – these are what Heinke Böhnert’s paintings are all about. They are strongly influenced by water since she has attended numerous international regattas and made a number of painting journeys, and her work has already been exhibited in Europe and the United States. Heinke Böhnert was born in Hamburg and one of her paintings was printed on a ROLAND 200 on the drupa stand and signed by her, Johannes Polgar and Florian Spalteholz.
