Process Know-How for the Pharmaceutical Industry
Thursday 23. April 2009 - OYSTAR Pharmaceuticals Division at ACHEMA 2009
The Process & Packaging Group will exhibit a raft of innovations and services for the pharmaceutical industry at ACHEMA 2009 in Frankfurt. The OYSTAR Group will be represented at the event by the companies in its Pharmaceutical Division, namely OYSTAR Fabrima (Guarulhos/Brazil), OYSTAR Hüttlin (Schopfheim/Germany), OYSTAR IWK (Stutensee/Germany) and OYSTAR Manesty (Knowsley/UK) in hall 3.1, booth C17-E21 to underscore its leading position in this key area.
OYSTAR Hüttlin is proud to present the next generation of disk jet, a technology used in the fluidized bed process. This special gas distributor plate, with which solids are fluidized through the inflow of process gas, now offers even higher wall speeds and better mixing properties. The result is homogenous fluidization and an even coating thickness when the product is coated.
The Mycromix high-shear mixing granulator is being showcased with a 10 liter product container. Combined with Mycrolab or Unilab, the Mycromix is highly flexible in terms of its use in the laboratory. Other features of the machine include gentle-wing technology, batch data recording, as well as impeller speed and torque measurements.
With the shaft seal in the base of the HBG (a high-shear mixing granulator with under floor drive) OYSTAR Hüttlin has set a new milestone. The design of the seal and the fact that it is continuously flushed means that the impeller does not need to be lifted or moved for cleaning validation. The sealing cartridge, comprising a double-acting lip seal and wiper, has the same mounting dimensions as the optional mechanical seal, making it easy to replace.
OYSTAR Manesty has developed a new design for the Value-series D4 tablet press that is superior both visually and ergonomically. The control options now include mpower lite, which meets the relevant requirements of GMP, GAMP and the FDA. The machine can be used for producing two-layer and effervescent tablets and is designed to handle an output of 10,000 to 234,000 tablets per hour.
With its XL Cota series, OYSTAR Manesty has set the standard for tablet coating. The equipment is designed to process medium to large-scale batches with the tightly controlled production process ensuring the high quality of the product. At ACHEMA, the British company will present an XL Cota 150 for production batches ranging from 55 to 185k.
OYSTAR IWK will present a tubefilling line for sterile production requirements. The exhibitors will show a robotic system for loading empty tubes in a clean room environment, which enables tubes to be handled without inside contamination. The quality of sterilization is increased by the ability to handle closed trays for empty tubes. An optional tray buffer system with airlock is available for clean room applications. The subsequent TFS 80-2 tube filler and sealer is capable of handling up to 200 tubes per minute. Other notable features of the exhibit include isolator technology with safety glass protection and glove parts, the ceramic dosing system, and the in-line weight control system.
The line is completed by the SC5/SI5 system, a continuous and intermittent cartoning system for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications with an output of 200 or 100 units per minute. The machine features a rotary carton pick-up system with pre-folding of cut-to-size pieces to handle 100% recycled materials. The SC5 is equipped with the “Feedcell” robotic loading system to load 1-3 tubes per carton.
OYSTAR IWK will also present the BP5 blister machine for outputs of up to 300 blisters per minute with the new intermittent cartoning system SI5. The BP5 has been designed according to GMP guidelines and allows for fast changeovers without relying on additional tools. The machine also features easy-to-clean surfaces in accordance with GMP standards.
