Tattly announces new temporary tattoo design and redesigned packaging, featuring Mohawk
Wednesday 14. August 2013 - Based in Brooklyn and created by Tina Roth Eisenberg (author/owner of SwissMiss and founder of Studiomates, Tattly was launched online in July of 2011. The brand features an all-star lineup of temporary tattoos, designed by professional designers and illustrators. Initial designs quickly became popular and have now grown to a full catalog of over three hundred designs by artists worldwide.
Tattly products are proudly made in the United States, designed by professional artists who get a cut of every sale. The temporary tattoos are printed with soy based ink and are FDA approved for all ages.
Tattly just launched a new series of designs which will be instantly recognizable to all NYC inhabitants, and the newly redesigned Tattly multi-pack packaging features Mohawk Options paper and the Mohawk logo.
We spoke with Rusty Meadows, Mission Control at Tattly, about the newest set of Tattlys featuring NYC Subway icons.
Q: Tell us a bit about the new Tattly design. What inspired you to feature the NYC Subway signage for this new set?
Our latest Tattly Set is an officially licensed collection of New York City subway signage. It features the symbol for all 27 MTA subway lines, even the future “T” train!
We have always wanted to create Tattlys based on a recognizable brand. It made the most sense to start with a property that we all knew and loved. Since our Tattly team uses the MTA every day, it is a brand that is very close to our heart. The designs that we ended up using perfectly fit our requirements for new product – they are well designed and super fun.
Q: Who do you think this set will appeal to?
These are going to appeal to people who live in, or love, New York City. If you’ve ever lived here or visited, you know how much the MTA is part of everyone’s lives. That being said, we think everyone can get excited about this set. We used the letters and numbers to create all sorts of fun phrases and we think our audience will do the same!
Q: Is this the first new Tattly design to launch with the new Mohawk branded packaging?
We actually re-printed many of our existing designs when we produced the new sets. The MTA Set is the first new product to feature the redesigned packaging but we have shipped existing sets using the new form.
Q: What are your thoughts about the Tattly/Mohawk partnership?
We certainly love the paper! We especially like the facts that it is produced here in New York and that Mohawk uses wind power during production. It’s a great part of the story of the paper and now it’s part of the story of our product. We share it whenever we can!
