FUJIFILM supports Two Sides campaign

Keith Dalton, Director of FUJIFILM Graphic Systems UK

Tuesday 20. January 2009 - FUJIFILM is pleased to announce its participation in the Two Sides campaign, the National Association of Paper Merchants’ industry-wide initiative to challenge some of the negative perceptions about the environmental impact of print and paper.

As one of the early non-paper industry companies to support the initiative, FUJIFILM is fully behind the campaign’s focus to counteract the current public perception of the paper industry and stop the guilt surrounding the use of print and paper.

As Keith Dalton, director or FUJIFILM Graphic Systems UK, explains, “Here at FUJIFILM we’re doing our utmost to spread the ‘green’ message to the print industry and beyond so we’re totally supportive of the Two Sides quest to educate not only the print buying community but also the wider public about the environmental realities of the print and paper industries. Both industries are frequently tarred with the same ‘environmentally unfriendly’ brush so it’s great that we now have a platform from which we can all set the record straight.

“Paper is often seen as the most environmentally unfriendly medium when compared to alternative media such as the internet. In reality, these alternative media aren’t as ‘green’ as they’re perceived to be, with recent research suggesting that just two internet search engine requests use as much energy as is needed to boil a kettle. It’s getting this message out to the public which is the challenge.”

Martyn Eustace, director of the Two Sides campaign, comments: “Our aim is to promote responsible paper use while educating the paper-buying public of the true facts so they can make informed choices. We’re delighted to have FUJIFILM on board as it is further evidence of the print and paper industries speaking with a common voice to dispel the myths and present the real facts, something which is vital if the campaign is to succeed.”
