Trident Printing chooses Fujifilm PRO-T to help towards ISO 14001

Friday 15. February 2008 - Productivity of Fuji processless plates almost twice that of competitors

Fujifilm today announces that Woolwich-based Trident Printing, a B2 litho printer is using its thermal processless CTP plate, Brillia HD PRO-T. The plate is being used on both of Trident’s presses, a five-colour Ryobi 750 plus coater supplied by Apex Graphics and a five-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster74 press.

Mark Tackling, production director at Trident, says: “We are using the PRO-T plates on both presses. They have an exceptionally quick make-ready time and we are really impressed with how quickly they are imaged on our Screen platesetter. We are working towards obtaining 14001 certification and moving to processless is a step in the right direction as it eliminates the need for chemicals, water and a separate processor.

“We were previously using an alternative thermal processless plate but switched to Fuji because of the productivity. We’ve found that it’s nearly double that of the other plates we trialled. The plate is also harder wearing, more robust and it doesn’t scratch or mark as easily.”

Trident is particularly impressed with the savings in production time in imaging the plates of which they use around 2,000 a month.

Trident Printing’s investment in a purpose-built print facility, with the new Ryobi press and Screen CTP, have coincided with impressive growth over the past two years. The company is committed to the environment, having recently achieved FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody accreditations.
