Tuesday 05. August 2008 - Flexible cross media capability provides time savings in ripping and processing

Fujifilm today announces that Outdoor Partners Ltd, a South London based large format poster and POS specialist, has installed Fujifilm XMF Cross-Media Workflow.

John Chandler, operations director at Outdoor Partners, comments: “After trying XMF, we quickly saw that it delivered full integration and compatibility with all the various file formats which are supplied to us. The XMF integrated imposition engine gives us the ability to stream files to different output devices without having to go back and rework the job. This cross media capability is essential as often the client may change the job from a long, litho run to a shorter, digital run.

“We have also achieved total data integrity, which was our short term goal. We can now be assured that whatever file the client requires, be it from a low res PDF, CIP file, Epson Proof or final output to plate, the file will not change its characteristics.

“As there is no conversion to postscript from the original PDF, we have realised significant time savings in ripping and processing from the input files. From the main queue window, we can streamline various processes into one and the XMF engine allows us to process certain PDF files that would have crashed within our old RIP applications. And, XMF’s ease of use has enabled our studio operators to get to grips quickly with the day-to-day use of the software.

“The training and support from Fuji was key in our decision to purchase XMF. In both pre- and after-sales, the team at Fuji has worked alongside us to integrate XMF into our existing workflow patterns and business model.”

Fujifilm Workflow XMF is built from the ground up on industry standard technologies such as JDF and the Adobe PDF Print Engine. Combined with Fujifilm’s decades of experience in image processing and colour management, this gives print service providers the flexibility and ease of use they need to increase their productivity, quality and efficiency.
