Peterboro Web signs with Fujifilm for 5 year contract

Thursday 12. June 2008 - Peterboro Web, part of the Johnston Press Group of newspaper printers, today announces that it has signed a deal with Fujifilm for the 100 per cent supply of plates to its Peterborough site in Cambridgeshire.

Peterboro Web will be using Fujifilm’s LP-NN2 CTP plate for all printing requirements at the site from April 2008. As part of the installation, Peterboro Web has also installed four Fujifilm Aztec 85 News plate processors.

The Brillia LP-NN2 plates have Fujifilm’s patented MultiGrain structure. This results in outstanding printing efficiency, tone reproduction of 2 – 98 per cent, long print run capability up to 300,000 impressions, plus superior ink water balance which contributes to minimum dot gain, low dot sharpening and maximum ink mileage on press.

David Crow, Divisional MD of Printing, Johnston Press, says: “Although we have traditionally had a sole plate supply contract in place, we decided at the end of our last contract that we wanted to have a second plate provider servicing the group. We have been evaluating Fujifilm’s plate range offering for some time now and have conducted extensive testing at our Peterborough and Dinnington sites over the past 18 months. As a consequence of these highly successful trials, we have now contracted to use Fujifilm printing plates exclusively at our Peterborough Web site for the next five years.”

Peterboro Web is one of 10 regional print centres that print Johnston Press’s 309 titles including Peterborough Evening Telegraph, Stamford Mercury, Bury Free Press, Leamington Courier, Lynn News, Banbury Guardian plus several major contract titles for EMAP – Motorcycle News, Angling Times and Farmers Guardian.
