Four times more on one truck
Thursday 16. April 2009 - When the French company Un Air dIci replaced metal with plastic for their Ice Fruit packaging, the result was four times more products on one truck.
“As we aimed to get a perfect, high quality solution, Superfos was a natural choice as our packaging supplier. Furthermore, the switch from metal to plastic containers has led to weight reductions on more than 30% and a more efficient use of our storage capacity – factors that saves both money and CO2 emissions in the product life cycle,” says CEO Franck Bonfils from Un Air dIci.
Hard core facts
Our calculations show that four times as much plastic packaging can be delivered on the same truck compared to metal packaging. Pallet utilisation hence increased from 1.500 to 6.500 empty packaging per pallet.
The packaging weight reduction has also been significant. A reduction of 42gr. per packaging equivalent to more than 30% has been achieved. Combined with the improved pallet utilisation the total savings in transportation and storage is absolutely noteworthy and can be measured on the bottom-line.
Superfos works dedicated to help customers in reducing their CO2 emissions. Thus, the leading packaging manufacturer constantly surveys and measures the hard core savings for the customers.
