Dallas Printer Stays Sharp with Heidelberg Cutting and Folding Equipment

Wednesday 10. December 2008 - Lincoln Press in Dallas, Texas, recently added a POLAR 115 X cutter and a Stahlfolder B 30 folder to its postpress operations. The shop was already running a POLAR 92 cutter and Stahlfolder B 26 folder, but after upgrading to a 40-inch press, it needed to update its bindery to accommodate the larger sheet size.

“POLAR makes the best cutter,” said Gerald Wickliffe Sr., who helps his son, Gerald Jr., run the shop. “We had good results with our first POLAR cutter, so we decided to purchase another POLAR. We also liked the half-size folder we bought two years ago. We had been sending out double-gate folds, so we got a double-gate fold attachment and it’s working out great for our shop.” Wickliffe’s son bought Lincoln Press a little over four years ago; the shop now has 20 employees. In addition to its two POLAR cutters and two Stahlfolders, the shop also runs a 6-color Speedmaster SM 74 with coater and perfector and a 5-color Printmaster GTO 52 with perfector. On top of the reliability and quality of the machines themselves, Heidelberg’s service was another factor in the shop’s decision to purchase Heidelberg equipment. “Service has been great,” Wickliffe said. “Heidelberg always responds quickly and well to parts and repairs needs. I broke a belt on my folder, and they had someone right in here. The technicians really know their business.”
