Venerable Mississippi Shop Installs 6-Color Speedmaster CD 102 from Heidelberg

Tuesday 11. November 2008 - Hederman Brothers, a mainstay in Jackson, Miss. for more than a century, was looking to boost productivity when it recently added a 6-color Speedmaster CD 102 with coater from Heidelberg to its pressroom lineup.

“We needed to increase our productivity,” said President and COO Doug Hederman. “The fast make-ready times and overall speed of the press appealed to us.” The new press, which has been up and running for about four months, joins a host of other Heidelberg equipment at the plant, including a 4-color Speedmaster SM 102 with coater and perfector, a 5-color Speedmaster SM 52 with coater, a 1-color Heidelberg SORM and two vintage Heidelberg Windmills. In the bindery, Hederman runs a Stitchmaster ST 270 saddlestitcher, three Stahlfolders and two POLAR cutters from Heidelberg. “The new press really has lived up to its expectations and has served us well,” Hederman said. “Our operators are very happy with the results.” Hederman Brothers, which was founded in 1898 and specializes in general commercial printing and high-end agency work, has grown over the years to 90 employees across three shifts. The shop has come to count on Heidelberg’s service and reliability. “Heidelberg service has always been very responsive and quick to get us back up and running when needed,” Hederman said. “We enjoy our longstanding relationship with Heidelberg.”
