Inkjet & Digital Printing

Another first for A R Adams and Fujifilm

First Fujifilm UK install of Xerox 700 digital press

Monday 13. October 2008 - First Fujifilm UK install of Xerox 700 digital press

Fujifilm today announces that A R Adams & Sons, the 120-year old, Dover-based commercial printer is the first UK printer to provide digital print to customers from the Xerox 700 digital press. This is another Fujifilm first for Adams Printers, which was the first UK printer to install a Fujifilm Luxel V-6 B2 CTP engine back in 2004.

Alongside the Xerox 700, Adams has also invested in XMPie software to provide cross-media, variable-data for its digital print output, providing more choice for customers.

Managing director, James Adams comments: “We already had a digital press but were experiencing a few issues with it such as curling of the sheets off the press and it also needed quite a lot of attention when stacking the input tray. We were looking for a press which resolved these issues and the Xerox 700 did just that as well as producing more accurate results. We saw the press in operation here in the UK and then signed the deal on the Fujifilm stand at drupa, taking delivery of the press a few weeks later. We were running customer work through the press that very same day.

“The ability to offer personalised print to our customers with XMPie is also a huge bonus. Not only are we providing customers with more cost-effective, accurate print for shorter run-lengths, to often complement longer litho print runs, but we’re including the value-add of variable data, including full image personalisation, giving our customers more options than ever before. We’ve also got the full colour-management package which improves our accuracy even more.

“Our history with Fuji goes back a long way and it was an obvious choice for us when considering who to go to when looking for a new digital press. Fuji knows the print industry and knows our business and so was able to advise the best possible digital print solution to meet our needs. We’re delighted with the Xerox 700 which we understand to be the first of its kind in operation here in the UK.”

Graham Leeson, Fujifilm’s marketing manager, comments: “We’re delighted to achieve yet another UK industry first with A R Adams. We’ve worked with A R Adams for four years as its pre-press supplier and this is a great example of how Fujifilm’s expanded product offering can cater for the litho, digital and inkjet needs of all printers.”

The Xerox 700 is aimed at the production of photo books, brochures, direct mail pieces, catalogues, calendars and postcards. It can output at speeds of up to 70ppm in both colour and mono production and on stock weights ranging between 64gsm-300gsm.
