M&H Plastics: New PCR bottle and PCR label – An even greener packaging solution

Now you can offer customers a total PCR package – a PCR bottle plus a PCR label removing the need to take off the label before recycling. This means it is even easier to supply products which are kinder to the environment, whilst not compromising on style or quality.

Tuesday 30. September 2008 - Now you can offer customers a total PCR package - a PCR bottle plus a PCR label removing the need to take off the label before recycling. This means it is even easier to supply products which are kinder to the environment, whilst not compromising on style or quality.

Post Consumer Regrind (PCR) is plastic products that have been recycled, which means they are ground down to be re-used in new manufacturing. Recycling can provide an efficient environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional disposal of materials to landfill. It can also conserve energy and non-renewable resources as recycling replaces the need for primary extraction and the manufacture of new plastics.

M&H currently offers PCR PET and HDPE material at levels from 25 – 100% and is delighted to have worked in partnership with Royston Labels to develop these labels which are 100% recyclable. They have been manufactured using a high proportion of post-consumer waste (empty packaging that has been discarded by the consumer after use) and give the same high performance levels as non-recycled labels and can be used in a wide range of applications including food, beverage and personal care.

Simon Chidgey, Sales & Marketing Director of M&H Plastics said:
‘As part of our Environmental Policy M&H is constantly working to bring to market a range of sustainable packaging solutions that can not only be manufactured in recyclable plastics, but also material that has been recovered from the waste stream, post-consumer use. The development of these new labels means it is now even easier to meet increased demand for recycled products which are kinder to the environment.’

Paul Clayton, Managing Director of Royston Labels said:
‘We are constantly searching for products that are going to help our customers reduce their impact on the environment, and believe this new material offers customers significant commercial benefits as well as enhancing their ‘green’ credentials in the wider market place.’
