The Artemis Transat – Fujifilm yacht – day eight

Monday 19. May 2008 - Fujifilm is doing well in the Artemis Transat, currently running in 5th position.

Speaking to Alex Bennett a moment ago, he said: “I’m okay but pretty tired today and was just having a catnap. We are sailing in some big waves and it’s rough enough. Thankfully the weather has picked up now – yesterday evening the breeze kicked in. It’s been tough sailing as the wind has been up and down so it’s been difficult to keep the boat moving but it’s definitely a different story now.”

Alex is feeling pretty good and is psyched up for the next challenge – the next four days sailing into the ice gate. He continues; “It’s been fantastic so far. Over the weekend, I saw a great big turtle, which was an amazing sight and not something you see everyday. It’s about 800 miles until the ice gate and the fleet has all come together. There’s only a couple of miles between 3rd and 7th position so it’s all to play for.”
