Tuesday 10. June 2008 - At Muller Martini’s drupa stand the Kieler Nachrichten decided to invest in a ProLiner newspaper inserting system with main section, pre-printed section and 13 stations as well as a CoLiner pregatherer with six stations. Thus the first CoLiner in the world will come into operation at this newspaper publisher in Northern German Kiel.

“Because of market demands and tighter deadlines,” says Sven Fricke, “we decided to expand our inserting capacity.” According to the technical manager of the Kieler Zeitung GmbH & Co. Offsetdruck KG, after exhaustive scrutiny the choice went to the ProLiner with CoLiner, “because we believe that this solution, thanks to its modularity, will best meet our requirements. Moreover with the CoLiner, we also see an opportunity to expand our existing machines.”

Currently in the mailroom of the Kieler Nachrichten in Kiel, in addition to three NewsLiner A inserting systems, there are also nine NewsStack stacking systems and one NewsSorter loading dock system in operation. Because of a major increase in the quantity of inserts, now a ProLiner and CoLiner as well as three additional NewsStacks will be put into operation.

The pregatherer CoLiner, presented by Muller Martini as world premiere at drupa, can be integrated laterally into the ProLiner inserting line. On the one hand this allows an even more flexible layout of the entire inserting system, and on the other an even better overview of the process for the machine operator.
