KODAK NEXPRESS M700 Press Brings Expanded Business Opportunities to Pennsylvania Printer

Tuesday 15. January 2008 - With five store locations throughout southwestern Pennsylvania, Little Printing Company has served its customers well for more than 70 years, providing high quality printing for sports and graduation programs, letterhead, envelopes, brochures and even raffle tickets.

During the last several decades, the company has expanded into office furniture and supplies, making Little Printing/Mark IV Office Supply a central supplier of business services in this rural area—a critical resource to many small business, nonprofit and health care related customers.

When the owners of Little Printing/Mark IV heard about the KODAK NEXPRESS M700 Digital Color Press from their Kodak representative, they recognized an opportunity to position the company for growth.

“There’s nothing like this around here,” said Melanie Staub, Little Printing Company corporate secretary. “What this machine can do is unbelievable—the pieces are just beautiful.”

Printing at 70 A4/letter pages per minute (4200 sheets per hour), the 4-color KODAK NEXPRESS M700 Press can produce short-run, variable data applications with high impact color, such as direct mail, brochures, business documents, posters, newsletters, manuals and more, with 1200 x 1200 dpi image resolution.

“Before the NEXPRESS M700 Press, normal turnaround for a job was two weeks,” said Staub. “Now people can e-mail their jobs to us and we put them into production, so there’s far less waiting time. The M700 really brought us into 2007.”

Little Printing/Mark IV collects customer jobs through all five of its locations in Waynesburg, Scottdale, Connellsville and Uniontown, Pa., and Oakland, Md., centralizing the print production at its Uniontown plant. Before the arrival of the NEXPRESS M700 Press, Little Printing shipped its color production jobs out to another printer out of town, Staub noted. “Now we can go into the surrounding area and expand our business even more,” she said. “This gives us more of a selection, more things we can offer.”

Bringing the press operator up to speed on the NEXPRESS M700 Press could not have gone more smoothly, Staub reported. “Training with Kodak was incredible,” she said. “The press operator and graphic designer went to Rochester to learn how to use the NEXPRESS Press, and they came back and were up on the machine in no time. We’ve always had a nice relationship with Kodak, but this time, they really proved themselves in terms of what they can do for us.”

The NEXPRESS M700 Press features the KODAK NEXSTATION Front End, a powerful, scaleable application built on an open architecture that seamlessly accepts files from commonly used graphic design and imaging software. KODAK NEXSTATION Front End provides powerful processing of image intensive documents.
