Miller’s Professional Imaging Earns Major Industry Award for Digitally Printed Photo Books Using KODAK NEXPRESS Presses

Wednesday 09. January 2008 - The quality of photo books produced by Miller’s Professional Imaging, the largest color portrait and wedding lab in the United States, recently earned the company a 2007 Photography’s Outstanding Products (POP) Award from Popular Photography.

The POP Awards recognize the best tools of 2007 that help photographers take, fix, share, organize and sell great photos. Out of hundreds of contenders, photo books produced by Miller’s Professional Imaging’s Mpix division landed in the top 25. Miller’s growing Mpix business, a fully web based digital imaging lab for emerging professional photographers, drives output to its KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Presses.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious award from such an influential publication,” said Todd Coleman, Chief Operating Officer, Miller’s Professional Imaging. “Photo books represent one of our most popular applications. Photographers and customers appreciate the quality of photo reproduction and creative possibilities with photo books produced with the NEXPRESS Press.”

Two KODAK NEXPRESS 2500 Digital Production Color Presses enabled Miller’s Professional Imaging to expand its range of services to include photo books, calendars, greeting cards and postcards. These new applications created increased revenue opportunities for the company, and to meet demand, Miller’s recently added two additional KODAK NEXPRESS 2500 Presses.

The KODAK NEXPRESS 2100 Plus and 2500 Digital Production Color Presses are built on a modular and scaleable platform to meet changing business needs. Customers are able to upgrade presses as they grow their businesses with options to select desired paper capacity, increase processing capability, and add a fifth imaging unit for delivery of spot color, watermarking and protective coating with the GATF InterTech Award-winning KODAK NEXPRESS Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions. The Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions also enable high impact glossing in conjunction with the KODAK NEXGLOSSER Glossing Unit. The booklet maker for KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Presses is available in-line or off-line for collating, stitching, folding, trimming, and creating standard or square-back booklets of up to 100 pages.

Founded in 1939 in Pittsburg, Kan., Miller’s Professional Imaging began as a small family business. Today, it is a leading photo imaging company and operates from two Midwest locations providing image processing and proofing, negative retouching, printing, and finishing services to professional and advanced amateur photographers.

A full service lab in Pittsburg provides services and products primarily supporting professional wedding and portrait photographers, and also features a modern digital imaging department. Mpix is also located in Pittsburg and has two NEXPRESS 2500 Presses. A second lab in Columbia, Mo., opened its doors for business in March 2001 with a modern facility designed to support digital photographers and is home to the other two 2500 Presses. With over 460 employees in both locations, Miller’s Professional Imaging has established itself as an innovator and leader in the photo imaging industry.
