Random House Authors Reap Prestigious Literary Awards In Canada and U.S.

Monday 23. November 2009 - Random House authors have won two of the foremost literary awards in the U.S., and another two in Canada.

Linden MacIntyre kicked things off last week in Canada by winning the 50,000-Canadian-dollar Scotiabank Giller Prize for his novel “The Bishop’s Man” (Random House Canada) (see BeNet report). In addition to this foremost Canadian award for English-language literature, on Tuesday Random House of Canada also celebrated the announcement of the country’s most prestigious nonfiction award. M.G. Vassanji received the Governor General’s Literary Award for Non-Fiction for “A Place Within: Rediscovering India,” which was published by Doubleday Canada. The Doubleday Canada imprint has practically developed a monopoly on the award: its authors have won it three out of the last four years.
