CPI Card Group Welcomes Gerry Blight, Director of Customer Relations and Services

Friday 11. July 2008 - CPI Card Group, a world leader in plastic card manufacturing, announces the newest member of its management team. Gerry Blight has joined CPI as Director of Customer Relations and Services.

Gerry will be managing all Customer Service functions and the Card Personalization Services areas across the entire company. As part of the 2008 acquisition of Didier Printing, CPI recently examined all of its functions, including Customer Relations. In this new position, Gerry will be integral to ensuring that CPI continues to meet and exceed customer expectations across all of CPI’s locations.

Gerry is a card industry veteran, having participated in various facets of it over the past 15 years. After earning a master’s degree from Utah State University and a brief stint in the U.S. State Department, he joined the world of the Fortune 500 companies working in sales in the chemical products industry before progressing into sales management.

He started his own marketing consulting business in the late 1980s, which spawned several satellite businesses in the years that followed. By 1991, he co-founded a Direct Mail shop to support the local printing trade. It was around this time that he learned of the emerging “phone-card” business and its unique imaging requirements while researching opportunities for that venture.

By the mid 1990s the mailing business was sold and Gerry began working exclusively in the card industry, specializing in printing and personalization. He and a colleague are generally credited with developing the original concept of the independent high-speed service bureau.

Gerry has spoken at a number of Card Industry events around the country in helping to promote the industry and its professional development. He was most recently President of Optimum Card Solutions, LLC, a card personalization, packaging and fulfillment business based in Addison, Illinois.
