CPI Card Group Acquires Didier
Friday 18. January 2008 - CPI Card Group announces that it has acquired Didier Printing Company, a privately owned secure card manufacturer based in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
This acquisition will allow CPI Card Group to expand the services offered to its customers with highly flexible and responsive customer card solutions. The combined business will have three state-of-the-art manufacturing sites (Colorado, Nevada and Indiana), and has the largest smart card production capacity in the industry.
According to Ted Fick, President and CEO of CPI, “We are excited about the opportunities presented by the acquisition. Our joining of forces is a match made in heaven — CPI and Didier are two of the most respected manufacturers in the plastic card industry, each with its own strengths, sharing many of the values, culture and vision. Both companies have impressive reputations in the areas of quality, service, capability and innovation. Working as a unified team, we will transform two best of class companies into the single leader in all market segments of the card industry.”
Bob Clarke, Vice President of CPI, adds, “The combined facilities will provide increased flexibility for our customers’ plastic card needs, as we will be utilizing the best practices forged by each company’s extensive industry experience. One key example will be the ability to provide CPI’s technologies for RFID and translucent card manufacturing. This will enable us to offer our emerging technology for RFID to an expanded customer base. All of our customers will benefit from access to an even stronger CPI with a broader range of capabilities.”
The executive management team from Didier — Jim Galliher, Gary Smythe, Bill Lynch and Andy Sappenfield — will remain with the company.
