Mohawk Releases the Mohawk Show 12 Catalog “Crush”

Wednesday 02. January 2013 - The Mohawk Show 12 Catalog, designed by the team at Tether Inc., has been released and is now available for order. Stanley Hainsworth, Tether's founder, creative lead on the book's design, and Mohawk Show 12 jury chair said the catalog carries through the theme of the Mohawk Show 12 campaign, "a love affair with paper."

In the book, titled Crush, the love affair begins with the winning entries, which were chosen from the best work from all over the world. Page spreads using documentary-style photography showcase the work of the eight Winners, and 14 Finalists who were chosen by the Show 12 jury: Stanley Hainsworth, Tether, Seattle; Jorge Alderete, Illustrator, Mexico City; Michael Jager, JDK Design, Burlington, VT; and Susana Rodriguez de Tembleque, SY Partners, San Francisco.
The 6″ x 9″ perfect bound book houses over 90 photographs showing off the creativity and production excellence of the pieces that caught the eyes of the Show 12 jury. Crush is printed on Mohawk Superfine, Eggshell Ultrawhite. “I love the uncoated paper approach of the catalog. It allows the honesty of the pieces to be shown, instead of trying to put a spin on them,” says Hainsworth.
The cornea melting solid color (fluorescent green!) used on the cover is achieved with two match hits of green, which extends into the book to complement the 4-color process used to print the photographs of the winning entries. Frits Kouwenhoven of Hemlock Printers in British Columbia says they also had another trick up their sleeve to achieve the dynamic results. “We used a 20 micron stochastic screen, which is equivalent to a 380 standard line screen. The result of using this technique on Mohawk Superfine is like watching High Definition TV,” said Kouwenhoven.
