Krause LS Jet Multiformat producing at MAFRAPRINT

Monday 04. April 2011 - 5 x Krause LS Jet Multiformat platesetter and BlueFin processors are in production at MAFRAPRINT in the Czech Republic.

The company MAFRAPRINT with 2 production sites in the cities of Prague (Praha) and Olmütz (Olomouc) belong to the most important newspaper houses in the Czech Republic. The mother company is the publisher of the national daily MF DNES – MAFRA Praha Aktiengesellschaft. The MAFRAPRINT printers produce at the moment 5 national daily newspapers and 17 other newspapers plus contract jobs. These newspapers are printed with 7 KBA Colora web presses consuming approx. 30.000 tons of paper and the mailroom is equipped with FERAG equipment.
Since 2001 MAFRAPRINT is producing in both sites with 5 Krause LS Jet CTP lines that incorporated NdYag lasers at that time.
In 2009-2010 the increased production needs required faster CTP equipment. Apart from KRAUSE two other well known plate and CTP suppliers entered the tender. After an intensive evaluation of all systems the confidence and trust for the order of 5 lines (three lines for Prague and 2 lines for Olmütz) was placed with KRAUSE again.
Every CTP product line is consisting of the following system components: CTP Krause LS Jet 350 V Multiformat platesetter
with Violet laser and 2.000 plates loading capacity, BlueFin 650 processor (that can be upgraded to LowChem technology) as well as a Nela punch bender and sortation. The guaranteed plate output per line is 300 single plates per hour at 1270 dpi. The LS Jet Multiformat is the new KRAUSE platesetter for highest throughput and automation in newspaper printing sites.
All components are incorporated and supported by Krause as the system integrator, so that highest quality and availability are secured for a longer production period.
The tender consisted of the following main criteria for the system and supplier selection: Longevity and robustness of the machines, production availability, imaging quality and a low long term economic plate production. Flexible service and support also played a major role in the investment as well as low cost of ownership over the full life cycle. Krause utilised all these criteria in the best way and was selected as the supplier for the new CTP lines.
Installation works started in December 2010 in Olmütz and have been finalised in Prague in March 2011 by the commissioning of the fifth CTP production line. Precondition for the contract partners of MAFRAPRINT is a full process standardisation and workflow that guarantee an identical newspaper product from both printing sites. Otomar Z a t l o u k a l, Director of MAFRAPRINT is fully convinced that KRAUSE will handle this task in the best possible way and that the newspaper readers and customers will be supplied with even higher quality newspapers as in the past.
