Xeikon Supports Growing Interest in Transpromotional Printing by Sponsoring InfoTrends 2009 TransPromo Summits

Wednesday 22. July 2009 - Transpromo conferences provide unique opportunity to educate marketers, agencies and print service providers about the business opportunities of Xeikon solutions

Xeikon, a division of Punch Graphix, announced it has signed up as a platinum sponsor for the 2009 TransPromo Summits being conducted by research firm InfoTrends. 2009 marks the 3rd annual Transpromo Summit in the U.S., taking place August 13-14 in Boston, MA, and the inaugural European TransPromo Summit scheduled for October 6-7, 2009 taking place in Brussels, Belgium. At both events, Xeikon will participate in educational panel discussions and exhibit its range of solutions for transactional and transpromotional printing. The InfoTrends Summits are the only educational conferences that focus exclusively on Transpromo communications, the blending of promotional messages into transactional documents.

“The growth in transpromotional applications has resulted in the establishment of a digital print market on its own” says Danny Mertens, Business Development Manager Document Printing at Xeikon.  “Advances in digital print technology have eliminated the need for the combined use of digital and offset printing for these important documents, enabling full-color personalization of statements without having to revert to offset-preprinted color shells with their associated cost and waste factors. InfoTrends’ TransPromo Summits play a significant role in educating the entire transactional document supply chain about the value of including targeted promotional messages with transactional documents, and we are excited to be a worldwide sponsor of these events.”

Digital technologies driving TransPromo
In addition to a presence on the exhibit floor of the U.S. TransPromo Summit in August, Mertens, Xeikon’s resident expert in transpromotional printing, will be representing Xeikon in a panel discussion about the digital technologies that are driving the growth in TransPromo. In addition, Per Larsson, Sales & Marketing Manager from Parajett, a Xeikon customer, will offer insight on how to execute a transpromotional campaign and discuss the importance of quality printing in TransPromo applications.  Larsson says, “For our clients in the food sector, print quality is a key issue. When promoting food in print, it has to look simply delicious, even on images as small as a thumbnail.  We are able to meet these customer demands with our Xeikon equipment, which excels in quality, workflow performance and environmental responsibility.” Larsson will also speak about the business aspects of selling transpromotional print, including how to enthuse clients about the possibilities presented by TransPromo communications.

Mertens will also be presenting on behalf of Xeikon at the European TransPromo Summit taking place in Brussels.

Xeikon: leading the way to business success in TransPromo
“As pioneers and trendsetters in the digital printing arena,” adds Mertens, “we count a number of high-profile service bureaus, data centres from around the globe amongst our customers.  As a result, we have gained a deep understanding of the business and production requirements in the transactional and TransPromo markets and have developed technology and solutions designed to meet those requirements.  Attendees at both TransPromo Summits will have the opportunity to learn more about the advances Xeikon is making in these markets during their visit to the exhibit hall.”

Xeikon solutions address three key drivers of the TransPromo and transactional printing markets. These include:

Quality:  Retailers were among the first to spot the promotional potential of transactional documents, using these utilitarian customer communications as a platform to unify customer communications and make promotional messaging more affordable, effective and relevant. When these communications are promoting an expensive item or representing a marketer’s brand, high quality is essential.  The Xeikon 8000 features a new generation of high-precision imaging heads that combine true 1200 dpi resolution and 1200 x 3600 dpi addressability with variable dot density.  This unique combination of high resolution, high addressability and 4-bit depth results in the highest commercial print quality. The increased resolution is especially useful for printing minute details such as micro-texts and guilloches in security features, serifs and fine lines in certain fonts, and hairlines.  As TransPromo communications become increasingly mainstream, quality expectations will only grow, and Xeikon is well positioned to meet those growing demands.

Productivity:  Xeikon 8000 web-fed presses are ideal for heavy-duty print jobs. The Xeikon 8000 press offers an exceptional uptime of 90% and achieves duty cycles of 8.5 million A4 pages per month.  Another productivity-enhancing feature is the Xeikon patented One-Pass-DuplexTM technology enabling simultaneous double-sided printing and perfect front-to-back registration. The Xeikon X-800 digital front end provides Xeikon presses with sophisticated control over color registration, color consistency and color accuracy. Combining  the Xeikon IPDS controller and the X-800 DFE ensures a high performance workflow and opens the door to transforming classical transactional documents into meaningful marketing communication tools that add value and deepen customer relationships.

Environmentally responsible printing:  Digital printing offers many benefits in minimizing the environmental impact of printed materials and the printing process. These include the elimination of a number of costly stages in the traditional offset printing process that consume both time and energy, makeready waste and the chemistry that is often associated with the offset printing process. Digital printing allows operators to print only what is needed, with virtually no makeready waste and no chemistry.  In addition, independent research has shown that Xeikon toner has one of the highest deinkability percentages in the market and contains no hazardous substances.  This means that Xeikon-printed paper is guaranteed to be recyclable, increasingly important as both buyers and sellers of print express a growing demand for sustainable printing processes.
