Helsingborgs Dagblad upgrades with Q.I. Press Controls’ mRC and IQM

Peter Bryant (Project manager Helsingborgs Dagblad), Martin Dawideit (Director graphicM), Roger Jädersten (Production manager Helsingborgs Dagblad), Erwin van Rossem (Sales Q.I. Press Controls) and Lars Svensson (Managing Director) signing the order.

Friday 10. April 2009 - One of the biggest newspaper in the south of Sweden, Helsingborgs Dagblad in Helsingborg, has decided to upgrade their Goss Newsliner with Q.I Press Controls’ latest register system mRC.

The Goss Newsliner double width newspaper press consisting of 4 towers and one folder, will be equipped with a total of 16 mRC scanners. This to control colour, cut-off and sidelay register and to ensure a maximum quality in combination with an extreme low start-up waste. Besides mRC, Helsingborgs Dagblad also has invested in the Intelligent Quality Management (IQM) system of Q.I. Press Controls for production quality reporting.

“We are very enthusiastic about this order,” states Erwin van Rossem, Sales Q.I. Press Controls. “Not only because Helsingborgs Dagblad is one of the biggest newspapers in Sweden, but also because of their confidence in our IQM system. Our IQM system is an excepted product with proven technology in the market for some time now. It is a web-based MIS that can generate valuable information per production run, printing press or section by analysing objectively obtained measurement data from QI Press Controls camera technologies or imported external data. By making the printing process more transparent, improvements can be made and waste can be reduced. Also additional external variables that may be influential to your printed matter are taken into account.” Erwin van Rossem continues: “In addition to the basic system Helsingborg Dagblad ordered the data export module and the real time monitoring module. The last makes it possible for the production manager to immediately determine deviations at start-up or re-start of the printing press and to respond directly. Procedures or press pre-settings can be modified if needed based on this data, resulting in a reduction of waste and a better understanding of the press behaviour. However what makes this order special is the fact that Helsingborg Dagblad also opted for the latest capabilities for the IQM system: plate to plate analyses (displaying the register deviations between the plates that are caused by for example wear of the press or incorrect plate positioning or pin mounting) and web tension registration. It will be the first time these modules will be brought into practice!”
“Given the very good relationship between Helsingborgs Dagblad, graphicM (agent QI Press Controls) and Q.I. Press Controls, we are looking forward to a successful installation and we are very confident about the positive results concerning the market introduction of both new IQM modules!” Erwin van Rossem concludes.
