Gmähle Rollen-Offset Druck GmbH & Co. KG in Waiblingen chooses for Q.I. Press Controls’ IRS system

Wednesday 19. March 2008 - In order to improve the quality- and efficiency level of the production process, Gmähle Rollen-Offset Druck in Waiblingen, a subsidiary of Scheel Print-Medien GmbH, decided to replace the current register system on the KBA Compacta 101 by the Intelligent Register System (IRS) of Q.I. Press Controls.

The reasons for this investigation are to improve printing quality and to reduce the waste drastically.

Gmähle Rollen-Offset Druck offers high-quality products. In order to meet the quality demands of customers and the internal organisation and to reduce waste, Gmähle Rollen-Offset Druck will go for a full automatic control cycle. The register system on the KBA Compacta 101 (8 pages) must keep both colour and cut-off in register in the starting phase as well as during the production process and in the end phase. The system should also enlighten the work of the printer and reduce the waste considerably. “For this purpose we have extendedly investigated several possibilities in the market,” explains Mr. Hans-Peter Schäuble, Head of Technics of Gmähle Rollen-Offset Druck. “The technical advantages offered by the IRS automatic colour- and cut-off register of Q.I. Press Controls were decisive for us. Because of the space saving register marks (one set for colour and cut-off), the colour register control in front of the dryer and the fully automatic cut-off register, the waste is reduced considerably and a steady and constant quality in the production process can be provided for,” continues Mr. Hans Peter Schäuble. “Previous to our decision we have contacted several printers and users who are already working with Q.I. Press Controls’ products. They were all very positive about the achieved results. Of course this has also played an important role at the decision to realize this investment.”
