MKT Print buys Q.I. Press Controls closed loop control systems

Thursday 07. February 2008 - For their Solna press, MKT Print in Slovenia has chosen the intelligent closed loop control systems from Q.I. Press Controls. The IRS, Intelligent Register System, considerably improves print quality while reducing wastage.

In addition to the IRS, MKT Print was also looking for a good density measuring system for controlling their colour quality. Hans Franzén, Area Sales Manager of Solna Offset who has been acquainted with Q.I. Press Controls for years, was aware of the Q.I. Press Controls innovative IDS, Intelligent Density System. All the more reason for looking into the IDS in more detail with MKT Print.

Unique to the IDS system is that no markers need to be used. The colours in the printed image are measured and compared with the reference colours of the TIFF data. The system provides colour-stable printing, not just during the one production run, but all the time and on different printing presses.

Combined with the IRS with its practically invisible 0.04 mm² register marks, the IDS that works without guide marks, was decisive for MKT Print and Solna. “Q.I.P.C was the right partner for us. With the acquisition of the IRS and the IDS, we are expecting to be able to deliver optimum print quality on the Solna press,” says Hans Franzén.
MKT is opting for both systems for its heatset press with 8 units + 2 webs.
In total, it has purchased six IRS cameras, including four with the colour register system and two with the cut-off system, and four IDS cameras.

MKT Print is one of the many Eastern European printers that is moving with the times and prefers to go for quality. More and more they are investing in systems with advanced technologies, so that Eastern Europe may be characterised as a real growth market.
