Thursday 19. March 2009 - Over 50 attendees from 30 companies attended the first leg of the international Ipex 2010 roadshow on 11th March 2009 at Komori’s European headquarters in Utrecht, Netherlands, with a view to learn more about co-marketing opportunities and maximising their presence at this major event.

Presentations throughout the day focused on new visitor features and event initiatives, as well as the Ipex 2010 global marketing campaign, co-marketing opportunities and free marketing tools to draw more visitors to exhibitors’ stands. Attendees were particularly upbeat about the new personalised features on the Ipex 2010 website, www.ipex.org, as well as the recently launched Performance Index, an efficient and free consultancy service which enables exhibitors to easily identify and prioritise their show objectives and evaluate how well these objectives have been achieved by providing precise measurable results.

Nick Craig Waller, Ipex 2010 Marketing Director was delighted with the attendance and interaction during the day: “The event proved extremely popular with attendees as it helped them to identify opportunities they can capitalise on. Delegates also enjoyed the networking and the chance to exchange different marketing ideas. The industry is going through some tough times at the moment so it’s more important than ever to support our exhibitors with the preparations for the event in 2010 and work together to maximise their investment in the show.”

Feedback from attendees has been very positive. Willem Rosé, Marketing Manager at Royal Dutch Printing Ink Factories Van Son commented after the event: “With just over a year to go until Ipex 2010, the event provided a great opportunity to focus our minds on how best to plan for the show. I found the information about co-marketing opportunities, the new marketing tools such as Performance Index, the personalised website functions and information about social media extremely valuable. The event also emphasised that in addition to the efforts from the Ipex team, it’s just as important that the exhibitors themselves do their utmost to attract as many visitors as possible to the show. Another bonus was the chance to meet other exhibitors and representatives of the trade press, which resulted in many interesting discussions.”

Linda Hedlund-Klein, European Events Professional, Canon Europe said: “The roadshow is a great initiative from the Ipex 2010 organisers as it gives us exhibitors great opportunities to meet with each other and also share ideas and previous experience.”

Gudrun Baunach, Kodak’s Director Marketing Services Graphic Communications Group, commented: “Ipex is a key date in the print calendar. The Ipex International Marketing Tour proved to be very useful preparation and featured lots of practical tips on how to get the most out of this show. In addition, it was very helpful for identifying new ways to highlight our attendance at the event – for example, using social media as marketing tools to bring the exhibition to a wider audience and invite people along.”

Tim Webb, Director of the UK suppliers’ association Picon said: “”I was struck by the range of innovations announced at the Ipex 2010 exhibitors’ event at Komori’s smart building in Utrecht. In particular, the Performance Index initiative sounds a very important benefit for many SMEs, in accurately assessing how to improve the return on investment from their exhibition spend. Lots of useful information made this a very worthwhile meeting.”

Linda Hilberdink, European Marketing Coordinator, Screen Europe explains why she found the event of value: “It’s always good to know about new marketing options in advance so we can work with the organisers to ensure both parties have a successful show.”

The next roadshow event is scheduled to take place in Germany in April.
