WRH Marketing UK Wins Planatol Agency

The new Planatol Combijet 9NET gluing system for use with web offset presses is available in the UK from WRH Marketing UK Ltd.

Tuesday 27. January 2009 - WRH Marketing UK has taken over exclusive distribution in the UK and Ireland for the Planatol range of gluing systems for web offset and newspaper production. The agreement, effective from January 1st, reflects the recent expansion by WRH Marketing UK into the web offset and sheet-fed commercial markets.

“Planatol is a major manufacturer of advanced gluing systems and is already represented in several other countries by WRH Marketing,” says WRH Marketing UK sales director for trade partners, Alison Morris. “The Planatol range is a perfect addition to our product portfolio and we’re delighted to have taken on the agency just as the company is about to launch a major new gluing system for the web offset market.”

The new OPIMATIC gluing system is the Combijet 9NET, which is available from January onwards. New features include an improved operations concept with more user friendly operator panels, as well as a range of options of adhesive container – from 30 kg to 1,000 kg. All heads can be controlled either from the master or the slave control box or from the new LCD manual control units. Operation is via a touch screen panel, while a new remote diagnostics facility means it is easy for a Planatol engineer to provide immediate support as well as downloads of the latest software.

The Combijet 9NET incorporates a softening facility and the system can measure accurately the consumption of both adhesive and softening liquid. The gluing system has an automatic rinsing function that will clean the complete unit. Motorised height adjustment of the applicator heads in the folding unit or the former are standard features with the Combijet 9NET and can also be incorporated for the heads in the folder superstructure. Up to 150 different gluing patterns, axial or vertical adjustments etc can be stored.

Planatol has been manufacturing glue and gluing systems in Germany for more than 75 years and the family-run business has an extensive network of distributors around the world. There are a wide variety of gluing technologies for the production of brochures, magazines and periodicals, with longitudinal and cross web options available for web offset applications.

“In the UK there are already around 80 installations of Planatol gluing systems in use on web offset presses,” says Alison Morris. “We will be working closely over the coming weeks with the previous UK agent to ensure a smooth handover, so existing customers can be assured of continued first class support. WRH Marketing UK engineers have already undertaken training on Planatol products and we have a comprehensive stock of parts, although the maintenance requirements of the gluing systems are extremely low.”
