CHANGE OF LOCATION AND MD FOR NIPSON
Monday 01. December 2008 - Nipson Digital Printing Systems PLC and Nipson UK Ltd have today detailed major changes following recent announcements involving a debt for equity swap which saw Creacorp NV, a Belgian incorporated investment company with ties to Xeikon manufacturer Punch Graphix, take a 43.96% stake in the PLC business.
These significant changes will see Nipson UK Ltd move its centre of acitivity from Dartford to York, along with a change in senior management, with David Mooney, the current Managing Director of Punch Graphix UK, taking over the running of that business.
The change regarding the position of Managing Director puts recently announced plans regarding the retirement of David Mooney very much on hold. His appointment, coupled with the significant geographical relocation, sees the departure of current Nipson UK Ltd General Manager John MacFarlane.
The new home of the company will be the Punch Graphix UK facility in York – a move designed to help bring about cost reductions for the business, which recently posted larger than expected pre-tax losses for the year to September 30th. “My immediate plans are to manage the business move, which is likely to become a reality early in the New Year, though activity will begin almost immediately,” said David Mooney. “Our next goal is to further reduce costs, which will happen largely through the sharing of resources with Punch Graphix UK. We will then focus on returning the Nipson business to profitability. I firmly believe that this is a very positive move for Nipson, its employees, and its customers.
“I will be working very closely with John MacFarlane over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth hand over, and would like to thank John for his support during the change over period,” added David Mooney.
Nipson Digital Printing Systems develops and manufactures printing solutions which meet the quality, speed, reliability, cost and variable content requirements of the high-speed monochrome digital printing market. Nipson equipment covers a wide range of black and white digital print applications. Solutions, based on the Nipson VaryPress series, give a competitive advantage to industrial printers, service bureaus, and large corporates. Whilst probably best known for their ability to produce transactional, billing and statement work, Nipson products also provide print-on-demand solutions featuring high quality text and graphics for the creation of image-rich books, manuals, pamphlets, newspaper products, and multi-piece direct mail work. The products are also involved in the production of complex barcodes, labels, plastic cards, and security work, including CMC7 and E13B MICR cheque books and payment coupons.
Nipson provides the most cost-effective, flexible monochrome digital printing equipment in the industry today. Companies in publishing, print-on-demand, transactional, financial, and security printing all benefit from Nipsons unmatched combination of production throughput, reliability, and flexibility. It is this unique combination of benefits that gives Nipson users worldwide a competitive edge in important markets.
The technology behind Nipsons success is magnetography, which uses a magnetic print drum combined with flash toner fusion. Introduced nearly two decades ago, magnetography has provided users with an unsurpassed combination of high-speeds, low total cost per page, and total application flexibility. Nipsons continuous investment in advancing this technology gives users an important advantage to allow them to further grow their businesses.
The registered office of Nipson Digital Printing Systems PLC will also move to York as of January 1st, 2009.
