Nipson’s Technology Advances Drive VaryPress to New Levels

Sunday 08. June 2008 - Nipson Printing Systems has once again advanced its unique magnetographic imaging technology with the introduction of a new generation of print heads, specially designed to achieve the best print quality ever in the VaryPress line of 600x600 dpi print engines. The new heads reduce single dot size by up to 50%, increasing print definition greatly and enabling the printers to print excellent quality halftones at an equivalent screen ruling value of 106 lpi.

The new head generation will be part of the Commercial Print Quality Option, which also will include upgrades to the print control electronics that ensure a wider contrast range and high image quality, consistency, and reliability at the VaryPress’ full rated speed. The Commercial Print Quality Option will be compatible with current versions of the VaryPress, making the improved imaging capability accessible to many of Nipson’s current customers and protecting their printing equipment investment.

“These latest advances underscore Nipson’s commitment to provide our customers with the best and most productive digital printing equipment on the market,” according to Alain Flament, Nipson’s Chief Marketing Officer. “The improved print quality comes on the heels of recent introductions of higher speed capabilities as well as the availability of high productivity spot color solutions in the VaryPress line.”

Nipson introduced the VaryPress 500 digital press last year with a print speed of 150 m/min. (500 ft./min.), as well as the VaryPress SCS Spot Color System, which can print from 1 to 4 spot colors on the web with the same print quality and speed characteristics as the VP500.

Nipson has always been recognized for its innovation and commitment to technical excellence. Its magnetographic imaging technology is unique in the industry and, in combination with its vast experience in using flash fusing technology, this has resulted in digital presses that offer unmatched performance and productivity and unique flexibility in terms of substrate compatibility. As VaryPress printers print on a wide range of materials, and at very high speeds and with high duty cycles, this makes them ideal for virtually all high-volume printing applications, from statements to print-on-demand documents to labels to MICR documents (the standard VaryPress toner is magnetic and creates excellent MICR characters without added expense.) With the recent addition of spot color capabilities, users of the VaryPress can expand into even more new markets, including today’s “transpromo” documents, which can deliver increased communications effectiveness and efficiency for many businesses that can harness its power.

“With the Commercial Print Quality Option, the VaryPress becomes an even more powerful and flexible production tool, particularly in the blossoming print-on-demand (PoD) marketplace,” continued Flament. “Our printers now produce strikingly high-quality images, allowing our customers to produce books, manuals, newspapers, and other ‘on-demand’ documents that can satisfy even their most discriminating clients.”
