Canon launches six new A4 multifunctional printers (MFPs) to consolidate and grow its No.1 position within the black-and-white Western European market

The new Canon iR 1020-24 series offers powerful yet cost-effective print solutions for workgroups and small businesses

Building on the strength and success of the Canon iR 1018-22 series, the new A4 series is designed to address the time and financial pressures businesses are under. The six new devices deliver faster print speeds, ranging from 20 to 24 pages per minute (PPM), and offer duplex printing as standard, enabling businesses to save money through the more efficient use of paper.

The new Canon iR 1020-24 series is set to consolidate Canon’s leadership of the highly competitive black-and-white MFP market. Canon is the leading brand in the black-and-white MFP market across Western Europe with a 17.8 percent market share by brand in the first half of 2008, according to analyst house InfoSource.

Paul Rowntree, European Marketing Manager, Canon Europe, said, “The launch of these six new A4 devices highlights our determination to remain the top provider in the competitive black-and-white MFP market.

“Canon’s newest range of MFPs is an example of our dedication to provide an effective print solution for each and every business customer. These printers have been specially designed to meet the requirements of small businesses and workgroups. They offer flexibility and reliability, whilst remaining highly affordable and still delivering great image quality.”

The A4 range also enables the high-quality colour scanning of business documents, saving businesses the additional cost of a colour scanner. The send function can be used as an effective business tool, allowing scanned documents to be sent directly across a business’s network, to an email address, FTP site or database.

Each device in the range has been designed for easy set-up and control, with an automatic registration function that automatically registers the device to the WINS (Windows Internet Naming Service) server, as well as the availability of a suite of web management software tools. This range is also compatible with the Canon e-Maintenance service to ensure quick response times to service calls.

The Canon iR 1020-24 series will be available throughout Europe during November 2008.
