Canon promotes print savings through new uniFLOW Output Manager 4.0

Wednesday 22. October 2008 - Canon Europe, world leader in imaging solutions, has today announced the latest version of its leading print management system, uniFLOW Output Manager 4.0. Developed by NT-Ware, uniFLOW OM 4.0 allows businesses to save money through efficient print processes, while also granting greater control over print security.

uniFLOW Output Manager 4.0 introduces the first ever universal print driver that can output to both PCL and Postscript devices

Businesses to minimise print costs through a single application which enables users to access and amend finishing options at a Canon multifunctional device

uniFLOW OM 4.0’s pop-up tool now enables all users to effectively control their print costs

For the first time, users can print to a PCL or Postscript device from a single universal printer driver, eliminating potentially expensive administrative costs. uniFLOW OM 4.0’s My Print Anywhere function enables users to send a job to print without worrying whether the device is PCL or Postscript. Employees will not waste valuable time re-sending incorrect jobs as the new universal driver manages the output conversion.

uniFLOW OM 4.0 also enables businesses to be more efficient in the way that they print. Users can walk up to a multifunctional device and print their documents through a secure central server. Users can also preview print jobs, amend the number of copies required, change the finishing options and select alternative ink options (i.e. colour or black-and-white) at Canon multifunctional devices. In this way, users can save time as they do not need to return to their workstation to re-send their print jobs.

uniFLOW OM 4.0 also features a pop-up tool which calculates the cost of each print job and identifies an alternative device which will process the job at a lower cost. This information enables users to gain a greater understanding of the cost of printing, and to select the most appropriate and cost-effective print device for that particular job.

Adam Gillbe, European Solutions Marketing Manager, Canon Europe, says: “In the current economic climate, streamlining is a big issue for businesses. The new uniFLOW OM 4.0 enables users to see what they are spending on print as well as recommending the most cost-effective printer to use for each job.

“Canon is committed to providing its customers with powerful solutions that make a real difference to the way businesses operate. Be it through increased print efficiency and time savings, or enabling heightened control over the costs of printing, the introduction of uniFLOW OM 4.0 can positively impact a business’s bottom line.”

uniFLOW OM 4.0 also offers integration with eCopy, the leading suite of document management software. eCopy users can also manage their output through a familiar interface, promoting ease of use. Print jobs held on the server can be viewed, released or deleted through the additional eCopy connector, eCopy Secure Print Client.

uniFLOW OM 4.0 will be made available throughout Europe from 20th October, 2008.
