Superfos strengthen its platform for growth

Tuesday 24. June 2008 - Superfos has increased its ownership in the largest plastic packaging manufacturer in Tunisia, Galion, to 45%. The transaction will through Galion enable Superfos to develop its activities in Africa and particularly in North Africa.

“The acquisition of additional shares in Galion is a part of Superfos’ growth strategy and will contribute to strengthening Superfos’ position in the fast growing emerging markets in the northern part of Africa. The partnership between Superfos and Galion aims at gaining additional market shares through a continuation of the double digit growth rates realized in the previous years. Exchange of know how in the areas such as manufacturing excellence and product development will support the growth” says CEO Hans Pettersson of Superfos.

Superfos is one of Europe’s largest manufacturers of injection moulded plastic packaging, supplying high-quality packaging for food, non-food and health care markets. Superfos is headquartered in Denmark and has 1,500 employees at 10 production facilities across Europe and one in the United States with an annual turnover of Euro 375 million.

Galion is the leading manufacturer of injection moulded plastic packaging in Tunisia supplying packaging solutions for food and non-food applications. Galion was established in 1990, is privately owned and has 100 employees. Galion is certified with quality and hygiene control system BRC/IOP and ISO 9001 Quality Management System. During 2008 it is Galion’s plan to establish a production site in Algeria.

Galion’s 2007 turnover is EUR 5.5 million with an associated EBITDA of almost EUR 1.2 million.
