Finishing & Screen Printing

For cutting its bank notes the security printing house Joh. Enschedé is buying its second POLAR high-speed cutter with TwinClamp option. The first TwinClamp machine, which was installed in 2006, already helped to obtain more than twice the efficiency . After purchasing the second high-speed cutter Joh. Enschedé plan to run the complete production on POLAR machines which are equipped with this optional feature. The new machine is the 10,000th high-speed cutter of the X/ XT generation which was first presented at the 2004 drupa. Founded in 1703, Joh. Enschedé is now one of the biggest Dutch printing plants. Since 1814 Enschedé has been the exclusive producer of bank notes for the Netherlands. The contract with the central bank De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB) has recently been extended after a tender procedure had been held throughout Europe. The printing plant which is located in Haarlem also supplies four other, smaller central banks of the Euro zones with bank notes. Big investments have been made in order to manufacture the enormous number of new orders with state-of-theart technology. The new POLAR 115 XT high-speed cutter was bought with the optional TwinClamp feature. TwinClamp has been conceived especially for cutting bank notes. Since this option was introduced several other bank note printers throughout Europa have been able to considerably increase their production with TwinClamp. Besides, there are other applications involving wavy materials, (e.g. with spot UV varnish) where the Twin Clamp is successfully employed.
