Sunday 08. June 2008 - For newspapers, the future is compact

The Südkurier, a regional title located by Lake Constance and owned by the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group, has placed an order for a triple-wide press line comprising two 48pp Cortina sections. It will be the fourteenth order for this waterless KBA press. Of the 60 Cortina towers ordered to date, 39 are in operation.

The highly automated triple-wide Cortina tower exhibited at Drupa is proving to be a real magnet. One of the many print pros sussing out the options of compact newspaper production on the KBA stand was Südkurier managing director Rainer Wiesner, who said: “At the Südkurier we like to think of ourselves as an ideas factory, so the KBA Cortina fits neatly into our corporate philosophy. The response of our press crew to the new press was overwhelmingly positive. After all, who wouldn’t want to work with the most advanced technology on the market?”
