FUJIFILM introduces Emblaze at drupa2008

Friday 06. June 2008 - FUJIFILM today announces new technology for digitally spot coating both digital and offset print with a new offline/nearline finishing system called ´´Emblaze´´. The system has been developed by FFEI in conjunction with FUJIFILM varnish coating technology and will be exclusively marketed by FUJIFILM in Europe.

Emblaze is a unique digital system for spot coating print from an A5 up to a B2 sheet with an equivilant output of up to 9000 A4 sheets an hour. It can handle print from 90 to 400 microns in thickness. No plates, blankets or wash ups required; this is a totally digital system using UV single pass inkjet technology.

Emblaze will add value to any print job and importantly can handle variable data printing jobs with ease. Whether it´s highlighting, decorating or embossing effects, Emblaze can handle each and every situation on the fly.

Emblaze is unique in that with one UV varnish, spot coating can be produced with gloss, silk, matt and even textured / tactile finishes all on the same page in a one pass process.

Emblaze utilises a varnish mask layer of the print job, imported as a grey scale TIFF file and set up adjustments can be made on an easy to use touch screen interface.

Emblaze is shown for the first time at drupa and will be commercially available in Europe from October 2008.
