Wednesday 28. May 2008 - The Qualifier 100/165 for RFID labels can be seen in action on the bielomatik stand. This inspection and finishing system provides for 100% quality assurance in the production of self-adhesive inlays and Smart Labels. Following an optical and/or electromagnetic examination, faulty labels or inlays are removed from the production line and replaced with tested items.

As many as 30,000 Smart Labels per hour can be checked on the continuous line. The subsequent coding of the chip data is handled from a database, by manual input or pre-printed barcode. Along with the chip data, alphanumeric information can also be applied to the label by non-contact inkjet printing.

Apart from its uses for logistics applications such as baggage handling for airlines or warehouse management, more and more companies are turning to RFID labelling, particularly in the packaging industry. This market is set to expand significantly in the future – particularly when retail products start to be fitted with these Smart Labels.
