Eastman to Add Cellulose Triacetate Capacity in Kingsport, Tennessee

Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE: EMN) announced plans to add production of cellulose triacetate (CTA) at its Kingsport, Tenn., site. CTA is a material widely used in the liquid crystal display (LCD) industry in the manufacture of polarizer films for computers, televisions, monitors, and handheld devices. The project will increase Eastman’s total CTA capacity by almost 70 percent and start up is expected in the first quarter 2012.

L. Brown and Sons Comes Out (Way) Ahead with Automation by Heidelberg

L. Brown and Sons Printing in Barre, Vt. recently took delivery of a fully automated, continuous-feed Stahlfolder TH 82 with Level 3 automation, as well as a 6-color Speedmaster CD 74 perfector. According to company president Larry Brown, installation was complicated by an extensive public works reconstruction project directly in front of the L. Brown facility, including excavation of the pavement, and electrical, water, and sewer line replacement.

Aschendorff Druckzentrum – modernizing zoned newspaper production with Ferag

Each day, for the production of 250,000 newspapers in 30 editions and circulations ranging between 2,000 and 20,000 copies, Aschendorff Druckzentrum GmbH & Co. KG in Münster (Germany) has to put a lot of effort into finishing and logistics. A fundamental rethink preceded the investment in replacement Ferag technology, which was brought forward from the planned date.
