Presstek unveiled GemPlate, its eco-friendly open platform thermal CTP plate at IPEX 2014 being held in London March 24-29. Visitors to the Presstek stand (#S3-E290) have been extremely receptive to GemPlate for its ease of use and environmental benefits. GemPlate can be imaged on any 830 nm platesetter.
At IPEX 2014 being held in London March 24-29, Presstek introduced Zahara, a new thermal offset plate engineered for waterless press platforms. Presstek is extremely pleased to bring to market, an alternative for printers using competitive waterless plates. Zahara is also suitable for printers who see the cost savings and quality improvement benefits of converting their wet offset presses to waterless. Zahara enables a true chemistry-free CTP workflow and in addition to its environmental benefits, the Zahara plate is extremely easy to use with no cover film to remove.
At IPEX 2014 held in London March 24-29, Presstek introduced JT-BL, a metal plate that images on a wide range of Epson inkjet printers using the printer’s original ink cartridges. The JT-BL plate enables for a low-cost, easy-to-use CTP solution with an extremely small footprint. After imaging, plates go directly to press for impressions of up to 5,000, and baking in a standard oven for impressions between 5,000 and 20,000. Visitors to the Presstek stand saw the JT-BL plate being imaged on an Epson 3880 inkjet printer.
At IPEX 2014 in stand # S3-E290, Presstek is set to unveil three new eco-friendly CTP plate technologies including: Zahara – a plate for waterless press platforms; GemPlate – an open platform no-bake thermal plate that offers pH neutral biodegradable processing; and JT-BL – an aluminum plate designed for inkjet imaging. A Presstek 52DI digital offset 4-colour press will also be featured in the stand as well as Presstek’s expanding portfolio of service options for print shops.
Proving that the supplier and its ability to support is as important as the technology, the printing inplant at Draper Tools is switching from a visible light to a thermal Computer to Plate device but sticking with Heidelberg.
