Stora Enso’s non-recurring items in third quarter 2009

Stora Enso will record non-recurring items (NRI) with a negative impact of approximately EUR 655 million on operating profit, including a EUR 71 million future cash impact, in its third quarter 2009 results. The first two NRIs below, totalling EUR 604 million were announced in August 2009. The NRIs will have a beneficial impact of EUR 43 million on tax, net of tax impairment. The impact of NRIs on earnings per share is negative EUR 0.78. The non-recurring items are: – impairment charge of EUR 353 million related to goodwill and fixed asset impairment testing undertaken during the third quarter of 2009. The impairment charge was announced on 19 August 2009;

Metso to lay off and reduce personnel in the Automation business line in Finland

Metso has today concluded the employee negotiations, which started in August, in its Automation business line. As a result of the negotiations, there will be 98 permanent personnel reductions. The primary locations to be effected will be in Helsinki, Tampere and Kajaani.

Metso completes the acquisition of M&J Industries A/S

Metso has completed the acquisition of Danish M&J Industries A/S, a manufacturing company of mobile and stationary products for solid-waste crushing, from Dansk Kapitalanlæg. The ownership of the company was transferred to Metso on October 7, 2009.

Fraser Papers Announces Credits Allocated Under Federal Green Transformation Program

Fraser Papers Inc. (“Fraser Papers” or the “Company”) announced today that it has been allocated CAD$33.1 million in credits under the Government of Canada’s $1 billion Pulp and Paper Green Transformation Program. The credits have been granted based on the Company’s black liquor production at its pulp mills in Edmundston, New Brunswick and Thurso, Quebec during 2009.

Fraser Papers Hires Specialty Packaging Account Representative

Fraser Papers Inc. (“Fraser Papers” or the “Company”) announced today that Rachel Van Wychen has been named Account Representative for Specialty Packaging products. Based out of Little Chute, Wisconsin, Rachel is responsible for expanding sales in Specialty Packaging throughout the Midwest. Ms. Van Wychen brings extensive market experience having held various sales positions in both industrial papers and packaging products.

Worldcolor Announces New Agreement to Print 21 Publications for ABA Publishing

Worldcolor (TSX:WC)(TSX:WC.U) has signed a multi-year agreement to print 21 magazines, journals and newsletters for ABA Publishing, the publishing arm of the American Bar Association. The 21 titles represent new work to Worldcolor, which has printed the ABA’s flagship magazine title – ABA Journal – for several years.
