Inkjet & Digital Printing
First Jetfire 50 digital printing system in North America
Monday 19. October 2026 - Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) is expanding its presence in the North American digital printing market: CJ Graphics, one of North Americas largest printing companies, will be the first customer on the continent to install a Jetfire 50 industrial inkjet press from Heidelberg.
The system will go into operation at the production site in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and represents another step toward establishing modern hybrid production environments in print shops. With this investment, CJ Graphics is responding to the growing demand for shorter runs, personalized print products, and faster turnaround times. At the same time, the company is underscoring its commitment to adopting technological innovations early on and offering its customers the highest level of flexibility.
Hybrid production environment leverages the economic advantages of each technology
CJ Graphics is one of North America’s most renowned print service providers. The company brings together 33 specialized business units under one roof and offers a broad spectrum of services, including direct marketing, packaging printing, large-format applications, logistics solutions, finishing, and digital communication services. With the new Jetfire 50, CJ Graphics is strategically expanding its existing production landscape, which already includes a Speedmaster XL 106 and other digital printing systems, adding an industrial inkjet solution that enables the company to seamlessly utilize offset, inkjet, and toner technologies. This expanded production environment provides greater flexibility to optimize quality, productivity, turnaround times, and personalization based on the unique requirements of each job.
“Today’s market demands the highest quality and competitive prices, while at the same time requiring ever-shorter turnaround times. With a hybrid production strategy, print shops can use exactly the technology that offers the greatest added value for each specific job,” says David Schmedding, CSO at Heidelberg. “With the Jetfire 50, Heidelberg is further expanding its position in industrial digital printing and helping customers worldwide to successfully tap into the potential of hybrid production strategies.”
Extensive evaluation confirms the Jetfire 50’s performance
Before making its investment decision, CJ Graphics spent nearly two years analyzing various inkjet systems and comparing numerous applications, substrates, and production scenarios. The focus was on print quality, cost-effectiveness, productivity, maintenance requirements, and ease of use. The company paid particular attention to how the print quality compared to that of its Speedmaster XL 106. In extensive tests, identical print designs were produced and evaluated on both systems. The results convinced the CJ Graphics team so thoroughly that the Jetfire 50 was selected. The high print quality, attractive operating costs, and the reliability of the technology were particularly decisive factors. “After extensive testing and comparisons with the leading inkjet solutions on the market, we chose the Jetfire 50 from Heidelberg. The print quality was exceptional, and the cost-effectiveness was compelling,” says Jay Mandarino, founder and owner of CJ Graphics.
Announcement made during the grand opening of the new Print Media Center (Home of Print) Americas
Heidelberg announced CJ Graphics’ investment in a Jetfire 50 during the grand opening of its new Print Media Center Americas (Home of Print) in Marietta, Georgia, USA. The new customer and technology center will serve as a central hub for customers to attend product demonstrations, training sessions, and discussions regarding
Heidelberg’s modern printing solutions in North America. Here, Heidelberg, as a systems integrator, will showcase its digital ecosystem for end-to-end production in commercial, packaging, and label printing.
“Print Media Center Americas – Home of Print represents much more than a new building. It reflects a new Heidelberg and a new way of thinking centered around collaboration,” said Clarence Penge, President of HEIDELBERG USA. “By bringing our people, expertise, and industry-leading technology together under one roof, we’re transforming how we support our customers, building a stronger foundation to help them succeed today and into the future.”
A Strong Partnership with an Eye Toward the Future
The collaboration between CJ Graphics and HEIDELBERG dates back more than four decades. With the installation of the first Jetfire 50 in North America, this partnership is now entering a new chapter. This investment also exemplifies a fundamental shift in the printing industry. Printing companies are increasingly evolving into integrated communications and solutions providers that intelligently combine different production processes to offer customers maximum flexibility, efficiency, and responsiveness.
