Tuesday 13. October 2026 - CJ Graphics, one of North Americas largest print communications companies, is set to install a new Jetfire 50, the B3 inkjet printing system from Heidelberg, at its Mississauga, Ontario facility. As the first Jetfire installation in North America, CJ Graphics investment builds on the companys history of innovation and high-quality printing while supporting its customers shift towards shorter runs and personalized print products.

“The Quality was Exceptional”
CJ Graphics, located just outside of Toronto, is far from a typical commercial printer. Operating from a 250,000-square-foot facility near Toronto, the company encompasses 33 specialized business entities offering services including direct mail, packaging, large and grand format printing, POP displays, digital print, logistics, embellishments, interactive marketing solutions and CJ Drive proprietary custom online portals. Recognized as the world’s most awarded printer, CJ Graphics has earned more than 6,500 print industry awards.

“Staying at the forefront of technology is one of the reasons we have been able to build our company and remain successful for so many years,” said Jay Mandarino, Owner & Founder of CJ Graphics.

With a history of adopting leading-edge technology, CJ Graphics spent nearly two years researching inkjet options before deciding to invest with Heidelberg. Despite the companies having a strong relationship dating back more than 40 years, Mandarino stated that his team looked at every major inkjet press available in the marketplace.

“We tested different machines, applications, stocks, and various types of work looking closely at print quality, productivity, operating costs, maintenance, ease of use, and the overall economics of bringing inkjet technology into our operation,” he said. “After testing and evaluation, we decided the Jetfire 50 was the right technology for us. The quality was exceptional. The economics made sense. The maintenance requirements were attractive. And, perhaps most importantly, we felt extremely comfortable with the technology and the company behind it.”

To be installed this month, the Jetfire 50 joins CJ Graphics’ six-color Speedmaster XL 106 and two new Versafire digital print engines as the company increasingly embraces hybrid production, leveraging the distinct strengths of both offset and digital printing. This integrated arsenal of production devices enables CJ Graphics to respond more quickly and efficiently to the market’s growing demand for greater flexibility and shorter turnaround times.

According to Mandarino, “Customers expect quality and competitive pricing with faster turnarounds than ever before. They also want a printing communication partner who can offer solutions rather than simply explain what a particular machine can or cannot do.”

With the XL 106 setting a high standard for print quality, CJ Graphics placed a strong emphasis on ensuring the Jetfire 50 could deliver comparable results. During the testing phase, Mandarino and his team compared sheets produced on the Jetfire, which has a resolution of 1200 dpi and uses three print heads per color, with the same sheets printed on its XL 106.

“In many cases, it was very difficult to tell the difference. The results were extremely impressive,” he said. “I truly believe that inkjet technology is going to change commercial printing forever. Because the reality is that there is no one machine that does everything perfectly.”

With speeds of up to 4,560 SRA3 sheets per hour in duplex mode and 90% availability, the Jetfire 50 delivers the quality and flexibility required for short runs, along with the reliability and uptime essential to a high-volume production environment.

“I couldn’t be happier that our first Jetfire installation in North America is at CJ Graphics,” said Harry Hoff, Vice President of Sales and Service for Heidelberg Canada. “This machine is the perfect fit for the type of work they’re producing, and Jay and his team have the innovative mindset to integrate the Jetfire seamlessly into their production environment.”

Mandarino concluded, “Every technology has different advantages. Our job as printers and solutions experts is to understand those differences and make sure that we are putting the right job on the right piece of equipment. Being diversified is no longer just an advantage, it’s essential in today’s marketplace.”
