MOSCA honored as the most sustainable company in mechanical engineering

Tuesday 20. July 2021 - #MOSCA topped the list of winners in the Germanys Best - Sustainability category of Focus Moneys prestigious awards for German companies. It has thus set the benchmark for the industry in Mechanical and Plant Engineering category, in which 34 companies were ranked.

The award was made as part of the “Germany’s Best – Sustainability” study conducted by the IMWF (Institute for Management and Economic Research) on behalf of Focus Money and Deutschland Test. The study looked at around 24,000 companies and brands in the period from March 2020 to February 2021. By taking first place in the “Mechanical and Plant Engineering” category, MOSCA has set the benchmark for the industry.
Supporting sustainability goals
The criteria of the award, which gives equal weight to the areas of ecology, economy and social issues, prove that sustainability goes far beyond environmental protection. For MOSCA, sustainable conduct has always encompassed these three areas, starting with strapping itself as a transport security solution. The minimal packaging requires only narrow plastic straps for transport protection, which can be separated and recycled by type after use. The PET strapping produced by MOSCA already consists of 100 percent recycled materials and PP strap is also produced with up to 30 percent recycled content. The company is already aiming to increase this proportion. The production of strapping itself is carried out in a “green” process at the Odenwald plant in Muckental, a state-of-the-art production facility that produces plastic strapping from PET and PP, fully automatically and around the clock. All the necessary energy comes from the company’s own solar power plant and renewable sources. In addition, MOSCA strives to systematically implement the circular economy, which not only benefits customers but also actively involves them in shaping it. Customers are encouraged to return their strapping to the cycle after use, thus supporting their own sustainability goals.
Conserving resources
MOSCA’s strapping machines themselves operate efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner. The company has established its own label for this purpose: “GET Inside” (“Green Efficient Technology inside”), which refers to sealing by means of low-emission and energy-saving ultrasonic technology, wear-free direct drives, and the use of electronics instead of pneumatics, as well as requiring the use of climate-neutral PET strapping.
Energy-saving innovations from MOSCA thus deliver immediate added value. The patented SoniXs ultrasonic technology translates into lower energy consumption, as there is no need to heat the plastic strapping when joining the ends of the strap. As a result, no fumes or smells are generated by the melting of the strap, allowing the use of machines equipped with this sealing technology in all sectors, including the food industry.  MOSCA’s customers also benefit from the longevity of the machines, which is based on high-quality materials, holistic solutions, targeted training and customized maintenance concepts. This ensures smooth operation and extends the service life of the strapping machines. 
Social responsibility
Back in May of this year, MOSCA signed the WIN Charter of the State of Baden-Württemberg to publicly affirm its commitment to human and employee rights, environmental concerns, regional and economic added value, and sustainable and fair finances. The commitment to social responsibility is also laid down in the company’s Code of Conduct. This means that business partners can be confident that they are working with a responsible and reliable partner.
Digital solutions for the future
MOSCA is also committed to collaboration in energy-saving innovations and smart process solutions. Examples include remote and predictive maintenance as well as a pay-per-use model. Comparable to car sharing, this will in future enable customers to pay only for the strapping they use, but not for the machine itself. Such innovative concepts show MOSCA’s total focus on customer-oriented solutions that offer practical added value without placing an additional burden on the environment.
