Print demos of Omets new offset machine have started
Tuesday 29. September 2009 - The VaryFlex F-1 offset printing unit cassette, which can be combined with flexo units and other technologies such as rotogravure, screen, hot and cold foil, and holograms, has been set up at Omets Technology Centre in Lecco.
Over the past few weeks, converters have been able to watch the new VaryFlex Offset run print demos, and those who have been unable to attend have been supplied with print samples run off in Lecco. The new offset printing unit has demonstrated its remarkable performance both in terms of quality, printing speed, and register stability, even when running a flexo-offset-flexo combination. The print trials were carried out on different types of substrates, from self adhesive labels to 12 micron film, board up to 300 gsm and 20 micron aluminium.
The VaryFlex Offset has a set up speed of 10 m/min and with its integrated automatic register control and web viewer Vision 1, featuring simple push button operation, makes it easy to produce perfect labels straightaway.
The VaryFlexs ergonomic design and great accessibility from either side, make life easy for the operator. There are interchangeable cassettes on the rear of each unit, and the print cylinders and inking rollers are separately driven by an electronic shaft to give individual speed and inking control.
Another important feature of the new Omet Offset unit is its availability in two printing widths, 340 mm or 430 mm (with a 520 mm web width under study). Print length varies from 12″ – 25″ thanks to the interchangeable cassettes, and speeds of up to 200 m/min are attainable, while a control panel with a monitor and trackball button allows the operator to monitor constantly all the parameters and to intervene whenever needed.
The unit can be fitted with UV drying, and with its driven cooling drum, handles a range of different substrates from paper, self adhesive, and unsupported film, right up to light carton.
The new Omet VaryFlex Offset machine makes its world debut at Labelexpo 2009 Europe in Brussels, and is available for demos to those who are interested in viewing it.
