Blue Star DM gears up for personalised, cross media, direct marketing campaigns

Wednesday 03. June 2009 - Blue Star DM move to new state-of-the-art premises combined with further investment with Fuji Xerox Australia

Blue Star DM, the direct mailing division of Blue Star Print Group in Australia, continues its rapid expansion by installing additional print technology from Fuji Xerox Australia and is moving to new state of the art premises in Homebush. “The new premises will allow us the ability to cater for the rising demand for personalised cross-media direct marketing campaigns,” said Kim Lykissas, Executive General Manager, Blue Star DM.

Blue Star DM is expanding its capabilities with the installation of the first Xerox iGen4 colour production press in New South Wales, making them the first mail house in Australia to invest in Xerox iGen4 technology – complementing the two Xerox iGen3 presses in Sydney and Melbourne. Also to be installed are a Nuvera 288EA Production Perfecting System, a Nuvera 144 EA Production System and an XMPie Enterprise site license to enhance Blue Star DM’s current cross media campaign applications.

“During these challenging economic times our customers expect improved return on investment for their marketing dollar and highly targeted and integrated cross media applications are proving to be very successful,” said Mr. Lykissas.

He expects continued growth in personalised colour digital printing with further finishing equipment also installed to meet demand. The new extended XMPie Enterprise site license further enhances Blue Star DM’s ability to offer fully integrated campaigns including sms, email and personalised url’s from its Sydney and Melbourne operations.

Blue Star’s key customers include multi-national companies in banking, insurance, advertising, publishing, telecommunications and retailing as well as government departments and agencies in both Australia and New Zealand. Demand for its fully personalised direct marketing solutions have been growing rapidly with customers recognising the benefits of targeted campaigns and reduced inventory and stock wastage.

“The productivity of digital presses – the amount of “uptime” we have on our systems to produce pages for our clients will be virtually doubled with the installation of the colour and monochrome presses. The iGen4 has a range of automation that will improve productivity by up to 25 to 35 per cent, reducing the need to interrupt the press for adjustments,” said Mr. Lykissas.

One of the key drivers of Blue Star’s growth in recent times has been the significant investment in the latest generation technologies which supports the broader group strategy of measured growth of the direct marketing business.

“With the move to our new site and the investment in state of the art equipment and software I am confident that Blue Star DM is well positioned for future growth” Mr. Lykissas said.

“Fuji Xerox Australia is delighted to have been chosen to support Blue Star DM in its further expansion in digital direct marketing,” said Simon Lane, National Manager, Production Services Business, Fuji Xerox Australia.
