Thimm Group is once again an award-winner for its sustainability performance

Tuesday 14. September 2021 - Thimm has once again been awarded a silver medal by EcoVadis. The packaging manufacturer improved on its previous years result and is now with this overall result positioned within the top 10 percent of rated companies in the same sector.

Thimm Group increased its points score in this year’s EcoVadis Sustainability Ratings and has been awarded the silver medal for achieving 63/100 points (previous year: 58/100). This result places Thimm is in the top 10 percent of companies rated by EcoVadis in the sector producing corrugated paper and corrugated cardboard as well as packaging materials from the paper, board and cardboard sector. Companies’ sustainability performance is rated by the four sustainability areas of environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. In all four areas, Thimm Group scored significantly above the average for the reference sector and in particular increased its performance for environment and sustainable procurement. With this result, Thimm is one of the top 25 percent of the 75,000 companies rated by EcoVadis worldwide.
“The result underlines the importance of corporate responsibility in our company. In our sustainability vision, we anticipate and solve economic, ecological and social challenges,” explains Michael Weber, Head of Corporate Strategy + Marketing at Thimm Group. “Sustainability performance and relevant transparent communications are important factors for future-oriented companies,” Weber continues. “Based on the information we provide on the internationally recognized platforms, our customers can form an independent image of Thimm.” Additionally, the company has been collecting information since 2014 on sustainable developments in its sustainability reports. “We also expect our suppliers and business partners to implement and comply with social and environmental standards. We have therefore set out comprehensive guidelines with regard to ethical criteria in the Code of Conduct,” Weber concludes.
EcoVadis is a recognized and independent ratings platform that promotes corporate social responsibility in accordance with international sustainability standards, such as the conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO conventions) and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). As part of this process, it pursues the objective of designing companies’ corporate responsibility performance to be transparent for business partners. In parallel EcoVadis supports participating companies improve their sustainability strategies.
