RISI Announces Acquisition of the International Woodfiber Resource and Trade Conference

Tuesday 19. August 2014 - RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry, today announced the acquisition of the International Woodfiber Resource and Trade Conference (IWRTC) from the conference shareholders.

The IWRTC gathers professionals from all over the world who are involved with the pulpwood, roundwood and chip industry. From plantation owners to shippers, end users, investors and government officials – the conference provides an opportunity to network and to learn about geographic and industry sector trends.

“The IWRTC fits perfectly into RISI’s portfolio of internationally renowned events. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to extend our coverage of the timber and woodfiber market for our clients,” said Iain Murray, Vice President of Marketing Services, RISI.

“Previous attendees of IWRTC can expect the same expert-level content as previous years. While RISI will take over day-to-day operations, Bob Flynn, Peter Lyford-Pike and Dennis Nielson, the conference founders will continue to participate in organizing the event into the future,” continued Murray.

“We all felt that RISI was the perfect fit to take IWRTC to even greater success. Their team’s experience in managing international events is unparalleled in the industry,” said Dennis Nielson, Director, DANA and one of the founders of IWRTC.

This year’s conference will be held November 3-4, in Santiago, Chile at the Sheraton Santiago Hotel and Convention Center. The event will be followed by an optional field trip from November 5-7. The field trip will offer the unique opportunity to visit forest plantations, nurseries, harvesting, woodchipping and export operations.

Attendees will include equity and debt finance industry executives, consultants and researchers, and Federal and State Government forest operations and policy officers.
